Sheep Johne’s Market Assurance Program: Tourello Status Monitored
Negative 3 (MN3) (VS 1506) |
|
| The
property is free of footrot and is located in a footrot free zone. |
|
| All
stock are subject to a strict drench and vaccination program. |
|
| Tourello
Texels has been developed along sound lines since its inception, using
only the very best genetic material. Tools to benefit the development
have been Embryo transplants, Artificial Insemination, the show ring and
Lambplan. |
|
| Total Genetic Resource Management (TGRM) is an effective
way of managing genetic gain and inbreeding. |
|
| Young
Sires Program has also allowed genetic gain. |
|
| Tourello Texels was established in
1994 on the rich soil of the Monbulk Creek at the foot of the
Dandenong’s. It is flanked by steep rocky native grass hills. This is
the perfect home for the adaptable Texel. |
|
| Lambs
are born and raised on the flats, then the ewes are sent on to the hills
for the remainder of the year. |
|
| Foxes
have been a major problem being so close to a populous place. The
introduction of a Maremma has saved us countless lambs. |
|
| Tourello Texels produced high
performance rams to maximize the producer’s profit. Tourello Texels
aims to produce a small number of high quality flock rams each year.
Rams are sold with a Warranty Certificate. |
|
| The
ewe flock is kept at 100.
They have high EBV’s, are structurally sound, have strong
maternal instincts and have minimal lambing difficulties. |
